Horses and Happy Mother's Day
I don't write about my horses much over here on this blog because they have their own blog, http://deserthorses.blogspot.com. But, yesterday I had such a good day with them that I decided to tell you all about it! First of all, I seem to be getting my energy back (FINALLY!) And, I noticed that when I went for my morning walk (over 30 minutes) yesterday, I wasn't limping at all from my arthritic knee. I've been taking the COSTCO Wellesse Glucosamine/chondrotin/MSM liquid. It took about 10 days for it to kick in, but I noticed an improvement. And, I've been out walking, in spite of the pain, every morning. I do notice, however, that if I sit for a long time, it is still painful when I get up...sigh...And, some days are better than others. But, yesterday I was able to brush out the two mustangs, take Cali up to the round pen, take Quad down to the arena, spend some quality time with Sunni, and clean out two water troughs! Phew! What a day! Oh, and I went to the feed store, bought 4 bags of pellets, and emptied all of them out into the storage cans. I have my horses in two different locations at the ranch. Scout and Cali are together in a large corral, so they can run, and Gigondas is up by them in a pen with a shade structure. Both Quad and Sunni are next to each other, with shades, down by the arena, where they can look out and see the horses exercising down there. Quad was so funny yesterday! He came up quietly behind me, softly nickered, and put his head on my shoulder. I figured, "Okay...you want to go do to the arena!", so I led him down there and he had a blast running around, bucking, farting, and eating weeds. He really didn't want to leave, but after an hour, I thought that was enough. Gigondas will stand at the gate quietly when she's ready to have a treat and that's how she lets me know she's had enough arena time. She's the only one I didn't brush out yesterday. Instead, she got a cool shower. I NEED to brush them all out as they are all shedding...any volunteers to come help? That's Scout on the top, then Cali, then a wet Gigondas, and finally Quad, down in the arena. Oh, and that's Sunni on the bottom. He didn't like my floppy sun hat yesterday! Happy Mother's Day to you from the "herd"!

So glad the knee is feeling better. Especially with summer coming and more opportunities to get walking into the mountains.
That was a lot of work with the horses. I'll bet it was fun work.
Happy Mother's Day to the mother in us all.
